- Sermon title: Let Joy Well Up!
- Primary text: John 4:1-26
You have put more joy in my heart
than they have when their grain and wine abound. (Psalm 4:7)
Life is not always full of joy. We want joy but carry burdens of regret, unforgiveness, and hurt. We need God to do it.
God, you do it! Place Your joy in our hearts today. It isn’t something we muster up with our own strength. It is a gift, and You are the Giver, God. Generosity is Your name. Put joy into our lives today. Pour out the joy of Heaven in our hearts by the power of the Holy Spirit. Pour out the joy of salvation that we have in Christ alone. Overflow us with the eternal truth of our belonging to you in life and death. Overflow us with the power of Your resurrection. In You, God, death does not win. The joy of life in perfect shalom with You, others, and Your creation is our future. In You, God, we have nothing to fear, nothing to hide, and nothing to lose.
When You put joy in our hearts, it is better than when grain and wine abound. God-given joy deep within is better than any circumstance, better than the richest of fare. We rest in You today and ask boldly for Your joy to bubble up like living water.
This Sunday, we will be starting a series on the Mission + Goals of MBC, which is to enjoy God and share Him with others. Enjoy + Share. I’ll talk more about this in weeks to come, but I pray that God would grow us all into a deeper understanding of God’s exciting purpose and plan for Mountain Bible.
Blessings in the source of our joy, King Jesus!
