- Sermon series: “Enjoying God”
- Sermon title: Enjoying the Father
- Text: Luke 12:22-32
The world is charged with the grandeur of God.
It will flame out, like shining from shook foil;
It gathers to a greatness, like the ooze of oil
-Gerard Manely Hopkins
Hopkin’s poem couldn’t be more appropriate when I think of my time under this magnificent redwood tree at Henry Cowell State Park! Wow, look at God’s grandeur! Look at His greatness in an ancient redwood, a simple leaf, a scrub jay, a blue dragonfly, or a piece of purple kelp. Zooming in and enjoying God’s creation causes us to zoom out and remember that our Father made and sustains it all! He knows your needs and, to your weakness, He is no stranger. All that to say: lay down your anxious worries at the feet of your Father who has got this.
I know anxiety is practically the default setting of our hearts, but look to the Fathered-world that you live in and rest in His in control-ness today. Why not? Step into the abundant joy that only He can give. Jesus did say that He came to give life abundantly! Enter into your Father’s joy. He is your home both now and eternally. – Pastor Kawika Haglund
