UPDATE: Mountain Bible Church is open for essential services only. The open mic will be held virtually, e.g. “quarentunes”!
Mountain Bible Church will host a monthly open mic (virtually), beginning March 27. Participants are encouraged to record two or three songs and post to YouTube (either as separate videos or one continuous recording). We will post a playlist on our Church YouTube page.
The virtual open mic is an opportunity for people to share God’s gift of music and to enjoy a night of fellowship.
The event will be held on “floating” Fridays to accommodate our twice-monthly food prep for a Santa Cruz homeless shelter (which falls every two weeks). Dates for the open mic will be posted on the church calendar.
Musicians at all stages of ability are encouraged to attend. Each performer will be granted 8 to 10 minutes or one or two songs. Because of the low ceiling and linoleum flooring, amplification is not provided. Musicians can play praise songs, spirituals, and secular music, either covers or originals.
Coffee, hot chocolate and beverages will be provided, as well as pastries.
- The open mic family-friendly event for all ages.
- No profane language or subject matter.
- Covers or original music. Instrumental music, also.
Church mission statement:
“The mission of Mountain Bible Church is to glorify God by sharing his love and grace through Jesus to the mountains and beyond, encouraging one another through community, discipleship, and service.”
The purpose of the open mic is to encourage fellowship through music. This is a new endeavor and input from participants is requested.
The open mic will be MC’d by worship leader Mark Adams, who writes original music and performs in coffee houses and various open mics. His email is firstname.lastname@example.org
